I’ve always worn suits.
I love them for they make me feel vaguely sophisticated, they look cool, they set you apart and they are super practical.
But, tailor-made suits have tended to be out of my financial grasp.
Following a long lunch in the clutches of Jonathan Dawson (and his dwarf man-servant – I thought I had died and gone to heaven) Poodle and I stumbled out into the piercing light of a Tangier afternoon and went shopping.
I’d been told that the tailoring in Tangier was exemplary and a skill that had survived from the city’s louche hayday.
Near the Grand Socco, I found my Man. Third generation tailor.
Enquired as to the cost and speed, and all seemed almost too good to be true.
And the result was ravishing…
On returning to London, swathed in the Whacky Tweed which we had purchased in one of the myriad cloth shops on Tangier medina, I was complemented on my sartoria, and one divine man even asked me to make him one.
The penny dropped.
A dream could come true. I’d dress my friends, and their friends, in great quality fabrics, made by my great quality tailor at great affordable prices.
That was in 2013. It has been a blast. Truly an amazing adventure. I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
I’ve become a Purveyor of Quality Threads…
